Board Leadership at Slatebridge

An Invitation to Shape the Future of Creative AI Education

  • I founded Slatebridge after years of building and scaling complex programs within large technology organizations, alongside long-standing engagement with the arts and creative communities.

Through that work, I’ve come to believe that technical fluency alone is not enough. Creativity, ethics, and human-centered thinking must play a central role in how emerging technologies are understood, taught, and applied.

Slatebridge is being built with care, intention, and long-term stewardship in mind. Forming a thoughtful Board early is a critical part of that commitment. I’m seeking individuals who bring perspective, curiosity, and integrity to help guide this work as it grows.

    — Dottie

    Founder, Slatebridge

  • Slatebridge was created to bridge art, technology, and human-centered thinking in an era shaped by artificial intelligence.

We design immersive Creative Labs that help students, institutions, and communities engage emerging AI tools thoughtfully, creatively, and responsibly. Our work emphasizes exploration over instruction, confidence over credentials, and real-world application over theory.

At a time when AI is advancing faster than cultural understanding, Slatebridge exists to ensure creativity, ethics, and human perspective remain central to how these tools are learned and used.

  • As Slatebridge enters its next phase, we are forming a small, thoughtful Board to help guide the organization’s long-term vision and impact.

This Board is not about governance for its own sake. It is about shaping direction, strengthening credibility, and ensuring that our programs remain grounded in both creative and technical excellence as we grow.

We are intentionally building a Board early, while the organization is still nimble, so its foundation reflects diverse perspectives and shared values from the start.

  • We are seeking Board members who bring experience, perspective, and curiosity across areas such as:

    • Technology and artificial intelligence

    • Art, design, or cultural institutions

    • Education, innovation, or public engagement

    • Organizational leadership or strategy

More than titles or résumés, we value people who care deeply about how technology shapes society and who believe creativity is essential to responsible innovation.

  • Board members serve in an advisory and stewardship capacity, helping to:

    • Provide strategic guidance on programs, partnerships, and growth

    • Offer perspective on how Slatebridge Innovation can best serve its communities

    • Strengthen credibility through experience, insight, and networks

    • Act as thoughtful ambassadors for the organization’s mission

This is not an operational role. Board members are not expected to manage programs, handle day-to-day execution, or fundraise aggressively.

  • We are committed to respecting the time and energy of our Board.

    • Approximately two to four meetings per year

    • Occasional ad hoc conversations or feedback as needed

    • No fixed term at launch, allowing flexibility as the organization evolves

Board service is voluntary and unpaid, guided by shared belief in the mission.

  • Slatebridge is at an early but meaningful stage. Programs are launching, partnerships are forming, and the organization’s voice is taking shape.

Board members joining at this moment have the opportunity to influence direction, values, and priorities in a way that is rarely possible once organizations are fully established.

This is a chance to help shape not just a nonprofit, but a model for how creative AI education can be done well.
