Slatebridge will conduct an Iceland field study as part of its Global Art & AI Exploration program, an educational and research initiative focused on how artificial intelligence is influencing creative practice, public learning, storytelling, ethics, access, and cultural memory.
The field study is centered on the August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse and will explore how rare natural phenomena are communicated, visualized, documented, and transformed into shared public experience.
Through field observation, visual documentation, public-facing science communication, and post-study synthesis, Slatebridge will examine how people use imagery, data, prediction, technology, storytelling, and collective attention to make sense of awe-inspiring natural events.
The Iceland Eclipse Field Study will connect questions of astronomy, visual culture, environmental experience, AI literacy, public education, and creative imagination.

The purpose of the field study is to examine how a rare celestial event is communicated, visualized, documented, and experienced by the public. Slatebridge will use the field study to explore connections between AI literacy, science communication, visual culture, environmental storytelling, creativity, and public learning.
