Dates: Summer, 2026
Locations: Munich, Vienna, and surrounding cultural institutions
Program: Global Art & AI Exploration
Slatebridge is launching a European field study as part of its Global Art & AI Exploration program, an educational and research initiative focused on how artificial intelligence is influencing creative practice, cultural institutions, public learning, and community dialogue.
This Germany and Austria field study will explore how artists, technologists, museums, galleries, design institutions, and cultural communities are responding to AI as both a creative tool and a broader cultural shift. Through site visits, field notes, exhibition research, and conversations with creative and cultural practitioners where available, Slatebridge will examine how AI is shaping visual experimentation, storytelling, education, ethics, access, and public understanding.
Insights from this field study will inform Slatebridge’s future workshops, labs, curriculum, and public learning resources. The goal is to ground Slatebridge’s AI education work in real creative practice across cultures and institutions, not just technology trends.
Research themes include:
AI as a creative medium and cultural force
Public education around emerging technology
Museums and cultural institutions as spaces for AI literacy
Ethics, access, authorship, and preservation
How artists and communities are imagining the future of creativity
A post-study summary will be published following the research period.
Global Art & AI Exploration: Germany & Austria Field Study
-
The Germany & Austria Field Study is part of Slatebridge’s Global Art & AI Exploration program. Its purpose is to examine how artists, technologists, museums, galleries, and cultural institutions are responding to artificial intelligence as both a creative tool and a broader cultural shift. Insights from the field study will help inform Slatebridge’s workshops, curriculum, public learning resources, and future programming.
-
Munich and Vienna offer rich cultural, artistic, educational, and technological ecosystems. The field study will use these cities as a lens for exploring how European institutions and creative communities are engaging with questions around AI, creativity, design, public education, ethics, authorship, and cultural preservation.
-
Following the research period, Slatebridge plans to develop a post-study summary highlighting key themes, observations, and questions that emerged from the field work. These findings will help shape future learning experiences, including workshops, labs, curriculum, and public-facing resources designed to make AI more understandable, creative, and culturally grounded.
